Putting up some work in progress today. A handful of pen & ink drawings that I'm getting ready to work through a digital color process, and some sketches that I'm just about to transfer over to board for some oil.

Here's the finish for the time being. Trying a little different approach, with the accented lines on top. Kind of makes me want to go even further with that, might approach the other pieces in this series a little more graphically.

Society of Illustrator's #53

One of the starting images of my self-published book, "The Angry Winter" has been selected for the 53rd Society of Illustrators Annual Exhibition! I'm very excited and honored to be counted in such a great lineup of work among other great artists. Here's to a first of many!

If you haven't had a chance to catch me at a convention or in person, take a look at my website, and please order a copy of the book. I'm into my second print run, and rapidly heading towards my third, so there might be a slight delay in shipping.

My first order of books are arriving, and I will be selling them at A.P.E. 2010 in San Francisco. Come by my table (I'm #291) and say hi, pick up your copy, and I'll happily sign or do a little sketch. I'll also be selling small prints and posters and whatnot, as will my friend Dusty Divine, sharing table space with me.

Most of you know that I'm a churchgoer, and I think a few of you know that I go to a somewhat different sort of place. Part of our form of expression is the arts, so, here's a piece I was working on this last Sunday morning. Fun atmosphere to create in, surrounded by motion, dance and music...

Acrylic, 30 x 40. Going to do a little more, then move to a layer of oils to finish. I want a pet owl.

Just pushing some pixels around in Photoshop, haven't touched my Wacom in a few weeks and thought it was time to warm it up again. So, a quick little sketch, and hopefully a series of connected images to make some sort of narrative.

New Blog!

Time for a change, and a URL that fits better with my actual portfolio. And, with a new season, time for some personal changes, so expect to see a much better discipline in keeping this blog up to date. Taking the opportunity to just sort of push the old one away, and start something fresh, has that wonderful "spring cleaning" sort of feel to it.

So, a few important updates:

Status of the SIREN comic anthology : Awesome! We sold out of what we had with us at this year's A.P.E., and will coming to more conventions near YOU! (provided you're within the SF Bay Area for Wonder Con, or are attending Emerald City in Seattle next year). But in the meantime, head over to the website, and order your copy so you don't have to wait so long! We'll all even sign it, and shipping's free. Patting ourselves on the back, I have to say it's a beautiful book, the printing is such wonderful quality, and it's a hefty hardcover for your collection.

Status of my own projects : Getting there! Been working on laying out a dummy copy of The Angry Winter, so hopefully we'll start seeing some updates from that real soon, I'm on a roll with getting the story pulled together.

And, here's a piece of in-progress work that I'm just starting into, titled "Gift".
